Collection of regulogs for HrcA transcription factor family

HrcA family of transcription factors includes highly conserved master regulators of heat-shock response genes in bacteria [9987104]. Under non-heat shock conditions HrcA protein interacts with GroEL chaperone and binds CIRCE (controlling inverted repeat of chaperone expression) element and thus represses the target gene expression. Elevated temperature causes HrcA instability and its dissociation from the CIRCE elements, leading to enhanced expression of the heat-shock genes. Under non-heat-shock conditions, the GroES and GroEL chaperones return HrcA to its active conformation. HrcA proteins contain an N-terminal winged HTH DNA binding domain (PF03444) and a characteristic C-terminal domain (PF01628).
