PaaR is a repressor belonging to the TetR family. PaaR regulates the phenylacetic acid utilization genes and was experimentally analyzed in Burkholderia cenocepacia and Thermus thermophilus. For all characterized paa genes, phenylacetic acid-CoA inhibits binding of the PaaR repressor to the corresponding target operators. We used a comparative genomics approach to reconstruct transcriptional regulons controlled by PaaR orthologs in diverse lineages of Bacteria [22685150].
