TrpR family of transcription factors includes repressors of the tryptophan biosynthesis genes in Gammaproteobacteria. Tryptophan itself works as corepressor of TrpR [16740930]. When tryptophan concentration in the cell is sufficient, TrpR repressor binds and blocks operator regions of target genes [16553875]. TrpR repressors are composed of a characteristic domain (PF01371) containing an HTH DNA binding motif [21553830].
