RbsR is a repressor belonging to the LacI family. The RbsR function was experimentally analyzed in Escherichia coli, where this protein is a local regulator of the ribose utilization operon. RbsR protein dimer binds to its palindromic operator in the absence of inducer. In the precence of D-ribose RbsR protein dissociates form DNA. We used a comparative genomics approach to reconstruct transcriptional regulons controlled by RbsR orthologs in Proteobacteria [11750821].
