CsoR (RcnR) family of transcription factors constitutes metal-sensing regulators that can respond to nickel, cobalt, or copper ions [17143269, 19703465]. CsoR-family regulators directly bind to operator sequences of target genes and act as transcriptional repressors. Binding of an effector to the regulator decreases its DNA binding affinity and leads to transcriptional activation (de-repression) of target genes [20442958]. CsoR-family regulators contain a single domain (PF02583), which is characterized by unique homodimeric antiparallel four-helix bundle architecture.
