Transcription factor NnrR from the CRP protein family regulates genes involved in denitrification in alpha-proteobacteria. It was originally characterized in Rhodobacter sphaeroides where it activates the nitrite and nitric oxide reductase genes in response to nitric oxide [14680695]. The comparative genomic approach was used to reconstruct orthologous NnrR regulons in various lineages of Proteobacteria [16261196 ].
