PdhR repressor from the GntR family of regulators has been previously characterized in Escherichia coli. Activity of PdhR is controlled by pyruvate. In the absence of this compound, the PdhR regulator binds to its target promoters controlling genes involved in pyruvate metabolism. This repression is antagonized by its coeffector, pyruvate.
