General statistics

TF binding sites 4

GutR family of transcription factors includes an activator of the glucitol utilization operon gut of B. subtilis [11118449]. GutR protein activates expression of the gut operon in the presence of co-effector, glucitol [11390381]. Binding of glucitol to GutR changes the conformation of GutR-DNA so that GutR acquires affinity to bind ATP that is essential for transcription activation process. GutR-family regulators are large multidomain proteins (800 aa) that contain an N-terminal HTH DNA binding domain, a nucleotide-binding domain and C-terminal regions involved in intra- and intermolecular interactions [11390381].
