AsnC (or Lrp/AsnC) family of transcription factors includes both global regulators of cellular metabolism (such as Lrp) and local metabolic regulators (such as AsnC) [21608015]. AsnC-family regulators were found both in Bacteria and Archaea. Regulators of the AsnC family control a variety of cellular processes including the energy and central metabolism, amino acid metabolism, ATP biosynthesis, DNA repair and recombination, bacterial persistence and virulence [21608015]. Many characterized AsnC-type regulators control the amino acid metabolism in response to amino acids [21169483]. AsnC-family proteins contain a variable N-terminal HTH DNA binding domain (PF13404, PF13412 or PF08280) and a characteristic C-terminal effector binding / oligomerization domain (PF01037).
