OmpR family comprises widespread and functionally diverse response regulators of two-component signal transduction systems that are activated upon phosphorylation by a cognate sensor histidine kinase. OmpR-family regulators are involved in the control of environmental stress tolerance (such as the oxidative, osmotic and acid stress response), motility, virulence, outer membrane biogenesis and other processes [11226872]. Most OmpR-family proteins are master regulators that could act as both activators and repressors. DNA binding affinity of the OmpR-family proteins depends on phosphorylation of an aspartate residue in the receiver domain that stabilizes the active, DNA-binding, conformation of the regulator [20702407]. more
