FapR family of transcription factors includes transcriptional repressors of genes involved in the fatty acid and phospholipid biosynthesis in Gram-positive bacteria [18941141, 17919287]. DNA binding affinity of FapR regulators depends on intracellular concentration of intermediates of the fatty acid biosynthesis pathway, either malonyl-CoA or malonyl-ACP [18941141, 12737802, 20201588]. Binding of these compounds inhibits FapR-DNA interaction. FapR-family regulators contain a characteristic C-terminal effector binding domain (PF03061) and an N-terminal winged HTH DNA binding domain (SSF46785) [18941141]. more
