Collection of regulogs for PurR transcription factor family
|TF binding sites
PurR family of transcription factors includes homologous regulators of purine metabolism in Firmicutes . Activity of PurR-family repressors is modulated by an effector molecule, 5-phosphoribosyl 1-pyrophosphate (PRPP), which is an essential compound in many purine metabolism reactions . When PRPP is abundant, it prevents PurR from binding to DNA sites, relieving expression of target genes. PurR regulators are composed of an N-terminal winged HTH DNA binding domain (PF09182) and a C-terminal phosphoribosyltransferase-like effector binding domain (PF00156).
