PadR family of transcription factors is a large and diverse family of regulators that were found both in Bacteria and Archaea. Only few of PadR-family regulators were functionally characterized. These include (i) quorum sensing-regulated protein that activates expression of virulence cascade genes and represses penicillin amidase gene, (ii) repressor of a multidrug efflux transporters, (iii) regulator of thermal resistance, (iv) the phenolic acid stress response regulator PadR [21685295, 15066807]. PadR-family regulators share a characteristic N-terminal winged HTH DNA binding domain (PF03551) and bear an additional C-terminal regulatory domain responsible for dimerization [21685295].
